Despite multiple postponements, the Buchi Babu Sana directorial carried strong pre-release buzz and opened to impressive collections at the box office, backed by massive fan anticipation and solid advance bookings.
However, mixed word of mouth affected the film’s long-term theatrical run, particularly in the dubbed versions. After a 25-day run, Peddi has reportedly collected a ₹150 crore share from the Telugu states, while its worldwide share stands at an impressive ₹190 crore. Despite a weak overseas performance and losses in a few territories, the film is expected to end its theatrical run as a profitable venture for most stakeholders in India.
The bigger question among fans has been whether Peddi has surpassed Jr. NTR’s Devara at the box office. The answer is both yes and no. Peddi has outperformed Devara in the Telugu states, but its underwhelming run in the Hindi market has prevented it from overtaking Devara’s worldwide collections. While it may not have delivered the massive comeback Ram Charan’s fans hoped for after Game Changer, Peddi has certainly helped the star regain momentum at the box office.
